This competition had the best talent I have ever competed with. Al and Cory were tied going into the last event, and they impressed everyone with their head-to-hear car deadlift hold. The fans really got behind their local, who took the win.

Anyone see my pre-contest predictions in the forum?
21 seconds Farmers Walk, 9 seconds Super Yoke, 15 reps Log Press, 50 seconds Medley, 300 feet Lug a Link, 38 seconds Truck Pull, 120 seconds Car Deadlift. Pretty close huh? Several competitors dropped out due to injuries, including Darren, Richard, Brian and Chris.

Prizes
Open ($1,200, $800, $ 400) 220LB ($800, $400, $200) $100 Per Event Win
Farmers Walk (Sydor Farm Equipment)
Review
We carried the 230lb chain links 80 feet, around a pylon and back. The implements were very high, and the handles were about the thickness of a barbell. The lift seemed pretty easy as was cornering with the short implements. I found them very easy to move with, but the competitors that dropped them often had to stand them up again before they could continue. Brad tore up the course in this one.
Rules
Competitors carry two Chain Links (230 lbs. per hand, 160 feet) from a start line to a pylon (80 ft.) and then back to the finish line (80 ft.). There will be two competitors per heat, racing against each other and the clock. The implements may be dropped and picked up again. Fastest time or longest measured distance wins. No wrist straps allowed during the event. Time will be stopped when competitor's body crosses the finish line. Competitors must make a full turn around the pylon. If a competitor kicks the pylon over with any part of their body, a 10 second penalty will be accessed. You have 90 SECONDS to complete the course.
Super Yolk (Parkland Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic)
Review
This was a nice yoke. I have one at home, and have been training with 550lbs. This one was 500, and I cut my best time in half with it. We were allowed to adjust the height to suit our preferences. Jamin was flying. You should have felt the air movement when he approached the competitor area. Still the yoke proved hard for some of the competitors.
Rules
One competitor will race against the clock, carrying a 500lb. Yolk, 80’ within a 90 second time limit. Time will be stopped when the competitor’s feet break the finish line. The yolk must be carried not dragged. Competitors will be allowed 2 put downs once they have commenced and have 90 seconds to complete the course
Log Press (T.D. Canada Trust)
Review
Ok, I hate the log press. With that said, the log was good. Seemed wider than I am use to, and you could even choose between a wide grip, and a wider grip. Darren was the favourite to win in this event, and he did not let us down. He did 15 reps, but had gas for more. John won the light weight, and really showed great technique.
Rules
Competitors will lift a 200lb. Log and military press for reps. The log will be resting on tires to start and competitors will be required to lift the log to a lock out position from their shoulders for a rep to be counted. Only clean first rep, after that each lift is from the shoulders. Competitors will have 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. No wrist straps allowed. Only full lockouts will be counted
Medley (Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy)
Review
I love medleys! The tire flip was very light. Was hoping to see Alan flip it twice in one shot but it was not to be. The keg load was also easy, though I had a dickens of a time trying to stand the thing up. (Actually sprained my thumb in the process) The duck walk was made from two chain links welded together hanging from a chain to a handle. Because of this, the 325 lb links would turn as you walked (or ran) with them. This caused a lot of competitors to drop them, and some (Darren and Brian) got injured in the process. If you were lucky (as I was) they remained straight and it was pretty easy. The chain drag was pretty easy, it slid well, but your legs really started to burn halfway thru.
Rules
Competitors will compete against one another and the clock. Will be required to flip a 500lb.Tire three times, load a 250lb. Beer keg on to a 4’ stand, duck walk 60’ with 300lbs., and drag a 500 lb. Chain 60’ to the finish line. Time stops when the chain is completely across the finish line. Time allowed 2 minutes. The keg must be standing on the platform and remain in position, if it falls off, competitor must replace it. Time will be stopped when all elements of the medley have been completed and the chain is across the finish line, or time expires. If the course is not competed, the competitor will receive a time for the last completed element and be placed accordingly
Lug A Link (Dauphin Chrysler)
Review
This event had me worried. The link was huge and looked like it would be hard to grip. Luckily we did not have to lift it from the ground, but instead they were suspended from a hook. There were several different techniques used to grip the link, and some people thought there might be an advantage in what you wore. Some of the local guys said a jean jacket worked the best. Barry wore a bright yellow rubber rain suit…Allan had an easy win here, carrying for a full minute.
Rules
Competitors CARRY FOR DISTANCE a 375lb. chain link out front in husafel style over a course with a turn every 80’.Time will start when the link will is lifted from a platform and will stop when the link is dropped. You have 60 seconds to carry the link as far as possible. No finger or wrist straps and no tacky. Competitors must carry the link across the start line to record a distance.
Truck Pull (Forman Ford)
Review
I have to say, I have pulled trucks, semis, tractors, and none were as hard as this pull. It may have been because we were pulling them on rubber mats and the tires were sinking in or maybe because the tires had low pressure. Nick, in his first contest ever did a full pull, in about 70 secs though. We were cheering so loud the timers could not get him to stop at 60 secs.
Rules
Each competitor will pull 2 Super Duty Ford P/U's with 2,000lbs in the boxes. Total wieght will be around 23,000lbs. The trucks are tied together by a tow rope and there will be approx. 6' of slack between each truck. The competitor must pull the trucks (80 ft.) to the finish line. A rope anchored at the finish line will allow for the use of arms. This is a timed event. Time starts on Judges, command and stops when the competitor reaches across the finish line. This is a rope assist harness pull, however competitors may drop the rope at any time and pull without it. Once the rope is dropped it cannot be picked up again.
Car Deadlift (Dean Cooley G.M)
Review
The cars were to light, so a couple of bundles of shingles were added to each trunk. To me they did not seem too heavy to lift, easier than Morden, but no body held them much over a minute so they must have been heavier. The last two competitors were Cory and Alan who were tied in the points, and what a great end to the competition. Cory held the longest and took the overall win.
Rules
Competitors will face each other, lifting the back end of a Chevrolet Cavalier, vehicle weight over 2600 lbs.. Deadlift weight approx. 650 lbs. Lifters will compete against the clock and time will only count as long as tires are off the floor. Time will start when competitor in full upright position. Straps are allowed.
