Review
Blair and his crew held another great contest. Was fun to compete with the large crowd, and see some new faces as well. Lots of good helpers, and the ref did a great job of being consistent.
Prizes
TBD
Farmers Walk
Review I was very worried about how the 300s would feel with the SI injury I had. So plan was to take it cautious on them. Rob Kmet had the best distance before me, so I went far enough to beat him, thinking that would be enough for the win. Was surprised to see Dan go further still. Dan looked very strong, definitely had me worried at this point. Brad was moving really fast 10.05 for 80’. Nice work. Rules 220lbs 80', 300lbs 80'
Unlimited drops.
Best time or furthest distance if not complete.
Will measure to the front of the closest implement.
90 second time limit
Harness Truck Pull
Review I was second last to go in this one, and knew Tyler and Eric were both close at 38 seconds or so. Usually this is one of my best events, so felt good about this. Was not sure what Dan was going to do, so made sure I started fast, and tried hard to speed up all the way through. Was good for 35 seconds and the win. Rules Dr. Hook Tow Truck, 80', with rope assist
If time runs out, distance will be measured
90 second time limit
Car Deadlift
Review The car deadlift is the event I got hurt on last weekend, so was very worried here. Luckily I was last to go. Plan was to do either 4 or 8 depending on how it felt on my back. Did 5 anyway. It did not feel too heavy. Tyler got 12 for the win, besting Dan by 1 rep. Half the competitors zeroed on this. It’s hard to get the weight just right that no one zero’s, yet the best guys don’t get high reps. Rules Reps in 60 seconds.
Competitor will face the vehicle.
Straps allowed, no suits.
Competitor will wait for a good lift signal or rep will not count.
No bouncing
Press Medley
Review I have to confess..i cheated in the press medley. I knew it happened, but, after seeing the video, it was worse then it felt. For some dumb reason (I did not need to) my left hand was on the dmb when I pressed it. It was only 100 lbs, so, no reason for it…but, it did happen. I feel guilty! With that being said, it was not called by the ref, so, its probably ok, but the ref was not very experienced, though he did and awesome job the whole day. I did the first 4 implements fairly easy, but the log felt funny, like it was heavier on one side. Weird. There was no way I was power cleaning the 260 today. So, was unable to get 5. Maybe, had I started at the 260, but choose to play it safe. Tyler won this, as expected, with 4 implements 15 seconds faster then me! Eric was the only competitor to get the 260 axle. He has a very nice continental. Works well for him. Rules 100lb thick dumbbell one hand press
185 Keg, any way you can press it.
220lb Log, 240lb barbell, 260lb thick bar, any way you can press it
Implments can be done in any order
no using head
Feet together, wait for ref's good lift signal before putting down.
Control implement on way down.
60 seconds
Tire Flip
Review So, going into the last event, I was up by 1 point on Tyler. If he won this, and no one was between he and I for time, the overall would go to him. I felt confident this would be my event. But was in for a shocker. Some how he got a huge early lead on me. Crap. I felt like I was gaining, and indeed was. Just when I passed him, he slipped on his tire, and knew I had the win. Awesome finish for us going head to head, and really close all the way until the end. Rules 600 lb tire (approx) for 80'
Head to Head
Furtest distance, or best time.
90 seconds
