Had a lot of fun at the ex (and some pain). We competed on an interesting surface, sort of a packed sandy surface. Worked out pretty good though. There was the constant threat of rain, but we only saw a drizzle. The guys did a great job putting on their first competition. The level of competitors was very high, and the weights were also pretty heavy. Ed and Ryan S competed here for the first time and impressed us all. Ryan E also showed a lot of improvement from Dauphin.
Prizes
1st place-$1,500, trophy and grand champion award
2nd place-$750 and trophy
3rd place-$500 and trophy
Event win-$100 and medallion (5 in total)
Power Yoke
Review
The yoke carried oxygen cylinder with plates on the top to add wieght. They were very narrow, well balanced, and had a thick bar. They did not seem overly heavy, though I dropped it right after the start. Ryan S and Ed were both in undre 13 seconds, and Jamin may have beet them both had he not been wobbling so much of the first half. Once he got it balanced he really moved. Dariusz and Ryan E were both penalized 4 seconds for sliding the yoke.
Rules

Power Medley
Review
Since the tire looked like it could be tough to finish, we started with the duck walk. It was fairly easy to carry, but I was very slow with it. The tire, WHEW, was very hard to get over. It was not very tall, and hard to grip, very hard to transition to get under it. Most of us really stuggled to get it. The tire really made our biceps hurt (only felt that later though)

Manitoba Stone
Review
What a cool looking stone. Josee Plante made this for the guys in Winnipeg, it was, of course shaped like Manitoba. The Silver bullet was awesome in this event, and Ryan E also carried it far. Lots of bruising on the arms from this one. I tried taking it on the side, which was a big mistake.

Log Press
Review
The log as really nice, very large diameter. This seems to make it a lot easier to clean and press. Ed went to 355, and could have gone higher. Was impressive to see the big weights here. Derek was out with a shoulder inury.

Carry & Drag
Review
The farmers walks were oxgen cylinders with plates on the top, low pickup. Actually seemed pretty easy. Now the sled, wow…very hard for me. I got not get the thing to slide, and had to jerk it all the way. My forearms were dead when my time was up. Once again, Ed flew through this one. Darren and Ryan E had an awesome head to head race, Darren easily beat him in the farmer walk portion, and to the half way point of the drag, but Ryan caught up, they both stopped inches from the line, and Ryan give a quick tug, and beat Darren by fractions of a second. Great race guys.
